Gas Prices Are On The Rise

Posted by Robin Thomas in Articles

Gas prices are on the rise and showing no mercy. In the past few years gas prices have risen dramatically.  In 2005 gas prices were just below the $2.30 mark. A gallon of gas is now in the $3.89 range. Since 2005 a gallon of gas has gone up 1.59.

Gas prices are taken a heavy toll on American citizens. In the past 5 months more and more people have started walking to work instead of driving. People being affected the most are high school students, mothers, and people who travel for a living. ”Gas prices are so high I can’t even afford to take my children to school” said a mother of two. ” I can no longer take my children to the park” claimed another.  Being a new mother I can understand where they are coming from. I don’t want to imagine what the price for gas will be  when Mischa starts school. Gas is so high that I can’t afford to get gas for my stove. I have had the gas company come over and treaten to take my gas tank.

To find the lowest gas prices near you please visit this site: http://gasprices.mapquest.com/ . I have decided to help everyone out by coming up with a few gas saving tips.

  • Avoid warming up the engine for a long period of time.
  • Don’t start and stop engine freguently
  • Accelerate slowly. Don’t just stomp on the gas.
  • Choose the best quality of gas so you can have better efficiency
  • Buy gas during the coolest part of the day
  • Keep windows closed when driving on the highway. Open windows cause air drag and reduces your milage by 10%
